Friday, May 24th - Practices
The first Friday session is characterized by a slightly cooler track than usual given the presence of clouds over the circuit. After a few laps from the start of the first session, David anticipates returning to the pits due to a small technical problem; once back on the track he manages to complete a series of laps with a clear track and regain feeling with the track. Matteo manages to be more consistent in his laps, managing to gradually improve his time during the session.
During Friday's second session, both drivers worked on their feeling with the tires trying to overcome the difficulties they encountered in finding the right grip with the Catalan asphalt. The team ends the day by staying momentarily with the drivers out of Q2.
Saturday, May 25th - Practices and Qualifying
Saturday morning brings the first notable improvements from both riders:
Both Matteo and David immediately find a good feeling with the track, managing to improve their times compared to the day before.
Matteo comes close to qualifying directly to Q2 by placing 17th thanks to the combined times between Practice 1 and 2; David instead manages to grab the direct entry to Q2 by placing 14th by calculating the combined times, he ends the session with a crash involving another rider, fortunately for both without consequences.
Then begins the qualifying Matteo, entering the track for Q1; a bit of difficulty at the beginning turns into a much better feeling that leads him to end the session ahead of all, earning access to Q2.
Both drivers start Q2 immediately trying to make room for themselves among the large traffic, trying to improve their feeling even more on a track where grip is not at its best, and after a pit stop, both drivers come out to end qualifying with a dry lap, juggling the other drivers.
The improvement over the previous days leads them to place 12th (Matteo) and 17th (David) respectively.
Sunday, May 26th - Race
Sunday turns out to be complicated from the start due to the different track conditions compared to all the other sessions, despite everything Matteo starts well managing to improve compared to the starting position and fighting towards position number 10.
Immediately afterwards, the group soon thins out, and Matteo ends up in the tussle of the second group.
Meanwhile, David, after a complicated start, slips in Turn 5 after a few laps, a corner that has betrayed many drivers during the weekend. He returns to the track for a few laps, eventually retiring before the end of the GP.
The group in which Matteo gets stuck loses ground from the leaders, leading him to have to fight for the points zone, finishing the race in 17th place.
