Friday, June 28th - Practices
After a hot Wednesday and Thursday, Friday's conditions brought cooler weather and wind to the first session of the weekend. The riders hit the track with good speed right away, with David starting to familiarize himself with the track, achieving positive results. Matteo faced a bike issue that kept him low in the standings but is confident everything will be fixed in time for the afternoon's Practice 1.
During Practice 1, the riders continued to work on their feeling and the bike, aiming to fine-tune every detail for the pre-qualifying and qualifying sessions on Saturday.
Saturday, June 29th - Practices and Qualifying
Practice 2, which was of pre-qualifying importance, marked a significant improvement compared to the previous day. The team and the riders managed to work well on strategy, temporarily placing themselves in the Top 10. The session concluded with David Almansa directly advancing to Q2, while Matteo was just behind but had to face Q1.
Matteo found the right pace during Q1, qualifying second and thus advancing to Q2. In the battle for pole position, both riders improved their morning times. Almansa finished the qualifying session in 18th position, while Matteo secured the 16th spot.
Sunday, June 30th - Race
Matteo made a blazing start, quickly gaining a couple of positions. Unfortunately, a penalty incurred over the weekend compromised his race, forcing him to restart from the back once served.
During his comeback, David managed to lead the second group, putting himself in the points zone. However, a race contact caused David to cut the final chicane, resulting in a long lap penalty. This penalty proved decisive for Almansa's race as he crashed while serving it due to the very dirty track in that area.
Bertelle, on the other hand, found a very fast pace, managing to set lap times faster than the leaders. He climbed up to 21st position despite having very few laps left to make a comeback.
Riders Comments
David returned to the box without any consequences from the crash: “At the beginning of the race, I had some problems with the bike, but once the groups split up, I managed to be faster and maintain a good speed. Unfortunately, the track in the long lap area was dirty, and I slipped.”
Matteo's race ended in the back positions due to the penalty, despite the great speed he found during the race: “The finishing position doesn't reflect my feeling on the bike and all the work done this weekend. In the race, I felt quite good despite some very windy sections. In 7 days, it's Germany's turn, and we'll focus on that, starting from the work done here! Gass”
